Elizabeth Pantley is a writer and lecturer, but, most importantly a mother. She has written nine parenting books available in 24 languages, and she delivers what most new parents can only dream of…… a way to get your baby to sleep through the night. Not by allowing your little one to ‘cry it out’, or whatever other methods are deemed in vogue, but with gentle but firm techniques for overcoming both naptime and nighttime problems by trying to understand why your baby is waking, and then providing routines, strategies and solutions for gradually changing behavior and patterns until you get where you want to be.
I was personally skeptical at the beginning, particularly when it is suggested that you make schedules of existing routines and chart progress. This all seems over the top when you’re sleep deprived and desperate for an easy life, so the first time around, I didn’t bother, and the fact that I had to go back and do it all again the Pantley way, says it all. Now I am a firm believer that this is a really good way to make sure you know what you’re doing, and how the changes are working, or not.
This book won’t change your life overnight, and even if some of the suggestions don’t work for you or your baby, there is enough there for you to find different solutions you can try, and over time, this book could well change your life, or at least your nights.
